15-year-old dies fleeing from traffic constables in Thane A fifteen-year-old youth died on Saturday after trying to flee from a traffic constable who saw him driving triple-seat. According to the Ambernath Police station in Ulhasnagar on January 20, Suraj Anup Ghoda, a Grade 10 student of Jaslok High School and Junior College in Ulhasnagar, joined two friends for a fun ride on one of their bikes after school.*Suraj Ghoda, who died while escaping a traffic constable. As they approached the Sai Baba Temple in Ulhasnagar, they spotted a couple of traffic constables conducting a naka bandi and, thus, panicked. “Seeing the traffic constables, the boys raced towards the Ordinance Factory and didn’t notice a speed breaker.

The bike went over the bump in high speed and Ghoda, who was riding pillion, fell down and sustained head injuries,” said a police officer from Ambernath police station, on condition of anonymity. The youngster was rushed to the Criticare hospital in Ulhasnagar by both his friends and other passersby.

Later, he was shifted to Fortis hospital in Kalyan, where he was treated before being pronounced dead on Saturday. Jaslok and its students mourned the death of the victim by observing silence in school. The traffic cops are organising a road safety week in the state this week, as a part of which, they fine and educate drivers on road safety and traffic rules through banners and nakabandis.

Ghoda and his friends, who were caught unaware as constables are never stationed at the chowk on an ordinary day, tried to escape from one such constable who was part of the awareness drive when the accident happened.

“I have been warning students to not ride bikes and this is a very unfortunate incident. The boy fell and died in Fortis hospital in Kalyan. They were driving rashly after they saw the constable,” said Arvind Kumar Shukla, principal of the secondary section of Jaslok High School. Reported by Mid-Day 2 days ago.

New Jersey High School Student Slams Teacher to the Floor for Taking Away His Cellphone

Look how much fun it is to teach mass vs. weight to high school kids in New Jersey these days.

According to the New York Daily News, a freshman at John F. Kennedy High School in Paterson is in big trouble after a classmate recorded him slamming his 62-year-old physics teacher to the floor last week because the teacher allegedly confiscated his cellphone from another student who was using it.It looks as though the kid eventually got his phone back, but not before he lifted the teacher to the front of the room, threw him to the ground, smacked him around a bit and yelled, "Give me my f**king phone back."

The 16-year-old student was arrested and charged with assault following the incident. Now we could be wrong, but given the fact that he was 16, still a freshman and having trouble grasping the basic concept of a trustworthy student-teacher relationship, we think it's safe to say physics was a bitch for this kid.

The streets of Bengaluru echoed with patriotic songs. So did the premises of various schools and parks. Children took part zealously in the parades and drawing contests conducted in their schools. More than 10,000 people gathered at Krishna Rao Park, Basavanagudi, with some of them drawing paintings on different themes, including Republic Day. The Colorothon event also witnessed elderly citizens and the visually impaired people taking part.

Paul Muddha, managing trustee of Snehadeep Trust for the Disabled that conducted the event, said select paintings would be auctioned off and the proceeds would be utilised for the welfare of the disabled.

At Cubbon Park, various programmes were held to mark the occasion. Miss India Wheelchair 2014 winner Dr Rajalakshmi presided over the flag-hoisting ceremony. This was followed by a cleanliness drive under the Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan. Volunteers had turned up in large numbers to clean the Cubbon Park premises.

Around 300 members of the Dalit Sangharsha Samiti took out a bike rally covering various places such as Town Hall, Whitefield, Kengeri, Peenya and Anekal on the outskirts of the City. The rally concluded at Vidhana Soudha with the garlanding of the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar.

Various government offices, residents' welfare associations and private companies too organised R-day programmes.

Lokayukta Justice Y Bhaskar Rao was the chief guest at the event organised at the Acharya Pathashala (APS) Educational Trust in NRColony. He unfurled the national flag. *In the bylanes of Khan Market, she walks swiftly to reach shops selling silver ornaments. She chooses the best pieces available in the tiny shop and bargaining the price down to almost half.
*
"The silver available in India is amazing. When I visited India first in 1996, for my sister-in-law's wedding, Delhi was completely different from what it is today. But I am happy I am able to buy silver here, which could have cost a bomb in London," says Kristine Thompson Dubey.

As Metrolife strikes a conversation with the American national, she shares tales of her Indian connect and her communication skills with which she has travelled and worked in places spanning the world.

"My fascination with the 'exotic' grew when I was in high school. I wanted to see something that is erratically different. May be that is why when I met my husband, settling in India was the 'selling point' for me when I said yes to marriage," says a jovial Thompson Dubey as she makes her way to her workplace in Safdarjung Development Area.

Metrolife follows her to get more insights on her life and living in a country where she wasn't born.

Soon, the fancy interiors, done in orange, become the topic of discussion as Kristine talks about the challenges in her job. "A vast majority of population, in not just India but across the world, is not in the habit of going to the dentist for regular check- ups. Therein arises the need of communication experts to explain to people about oral hygiene and health," says Thompson Dubey who is presently the head of marketing communications at Clove Dental.

Earlier, however, she worked with non-profit organisations but had to take up a different role when she shifted to Singapore and the economy was going through a slowdown. "Later, the Singapore Government decided to strengthen their IT and Telecom sectors and I was roped in for their corporate communications," she says, explaining how her job requires her to "craft the message in a way that it is compelling, especially when I come from a
different culture".

Her passion for food and travel has taken her to many destinations. "India is brilliant for travel. Abroad too, I go with my 10-year-old son and he is the best travel buddy since he has been travelling since he was quite young. Turkey is the next destination on our list. Also, my husband has been a journalist which made us travel all the more," she shares adding to the curiosity of her love story.

"My husband and me were pursuing our masters degree at Columbia University, New York when we met. Once he was walking down the street and I was sitting with my sister in a restaurant, I called him to meet her. After he left, my sister said that I acted like a butterfly in his presence," she narrates.

Soon she shifted places before coming back to India and settling in Mumbai. "I was very keen to learn Hindi then and hired a Hindi tutor in Maharashtra. The person started the lessons by teaching me to say 'My fish tank is in my tank'," she says bursting out in laughter. "How was that supposed to help me? There was another tutor who made me learn how to say - 'My husband is my God'." Ripples of laughter spread through the room as she admitted that
she hence knows only 'survival Hindi'.

Having lived in India for more than six years, she considers "Delhi more home than Mumbai. I love the melas and markets here."

Proudly flaunting her nosepin, she confesses, "Part of me is a mid-Western girl but part of me is a Delhi-girl and my nose-piercing will remind me of this forever." Reported by Deccan Herald 3 days ago.

Charlie Hebdo protesters in Pakistan storm Christian school

Hundreds of Pakistani students protesting against a French satirical magazine for publishing a controversial caricature stormed a Christian school in the country's northwest and demanded its closure, officials said today.

Four students were injured when the protesters stormed Panel High School for boys in northwestern Bannu city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province yesterday. A local Christian man told PTI on condition of anonymity that about 300 protesters, some of them carrying guns, entered the school and opened its gates.

They vandalised property and demanded that the school be closed, he said. The school, however, remained shut today, even as Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa governor Mehtab Abbasi called a meeting of Christian leaders and district administration to discuss the issue. District police officer Abdul Rashid Khan said steps have been taken to avoid any security situation and added that the school will re-open tomorrow.

The students were protesting against a caricature, deemed offensive to Islam, republished by French weekly 'Charlie Hebdo'. The caricatures were republished following a attack by two Islamist gunmen on the magazine's office in Paris in which 12 people were killed.

Last month 150 people, mostly students, were killed when Taliban gunmen attacked an army-run school in the provincial capital Peshawar. Charlie Hebdo caricatures have triggered massive protests in Pakistan. On January 16, at least three people were injured when protesters and police clashed at an anti-Charlie Hebdo stir outside the French consulate in Karachi.

Palace to palace: A peek into B'luru's own heritage zone

$

*A short journey from Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace in Chamarajpet to the Palace Grounds (Bangalore Palace) would entail experiencing countless traffic snarls but it can also be a rich heritage walk. Surprised? The stretch is dotted with more than two dozen heritage structures that are at least a century old. *

The busy traffic may leave you frustrated but the stretch is home to Bengaluru's richest heritage which craves our attention and deserves more than a cursory glance.

In a survey entitled 'Palace to Palace', architect Naresh Narasimhan has termed the stretch 'Swarna Marga' (Golden Path) and stressed the need to demarcate the area as 'Heritage Zone' and ascribe special importance to it. The survey throws light on prominent structures, parks and other public utility spaces.

Among them are Bangalore Gayana Samaja, KRMarket, Victoria Hospital, Tipu's Palace, Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, Fort High School, Carlton House, Vidhana Soudha, Vikasa Soudha, Maharani College, Freedom Park, Central College, University Law College, Historic Centre of Bangalore (near Avenue Road junction), Raj Bhavan, Niton Building, Golf Course, Balabrooie Guest House, Manikyavelu Mansion and Bangalore Palace.

Most buildings along this stretch are at least a century old, Narasimhan said. "To be precise, it extends a little beyond Tipu's Palace. The stretch starts at 5th Main Road, KRRoad junction, and goes up to Palace Grounds (Wadiyar's Palace)," he added. "If we see how Bengaluru developed, it will be evident that along this path are the oldest areas of the City."

Speaking about the Avenue Road stretch, Narasimhan said that being one of the prominent areas of old Bengaluru, it deserved special attention.

"One would appreciate the heritage value of such a lane only if it can be pedestrianised and buildings there given a facelift without making changes in the original design," he explained.

Cities like Mumbai, Barcelona and Hyderabad have areas that are specifically demarcated as heritage sites and the government pays special attention to them. "There is a need for civic authorities in Bengaluru to do the same," he said. Another thing to do is to have an Urban Arts Commission whose duty will be to identify and conserve heritage sites.

Narasimhan also suggested that heritage buildings be conserved on the lines of Maikyavelu Mansion and Freedom Park, which have been converted into places of public utility. Also, more awareness can be created if initiatives like Heritage Walks are taken up. Reported by Deccan Herald 2 days ago.

The Best Buzz From the 2015 Sundance Film Festival

$
0
0
As the Sundance Film Festival comes to a close, there are now a number of small budget movies buzzing in between the most anticipated films to look forward to this year. With returning Sundance favorite directors and a few bold debuts, this promises to be a great year for movies, big and small. The winners of the festival will be announced shortly after the end of its run on February 1, but here's a look at the best buzz generated so far.

*SUNDANCE SPOTLIGHT*

*Mistress America*Noah Baumbach returns to Sundance with his post-adolescent comedy of a struggling lonesome college freshman who is whisked away into her soon-to-be stepsister's world of chaos and unabashed excitement. Scores will be settled. Dreams will be chased. Cats will be stolen. The film stars co-writer Greta Gerwig and Lola Kirke. Look out for this classic indie gem.

*Tangerine*
Straddling the lines of taboo filmmaking, director Sean Baker boldly takes us into the world of transgender prostitutes in Los Angeles. Baker's follow-up to his hit "Starlet" from 2012 features a streetwalker on Christmas Eve out to "find the pimp who broke her heart." The film delves into a unique world that will likely deliver some hard truths, jaw-dropping moments and untapped hilarity. Baker goes for broke here, and it has apparently paid off, as Magnolia Pictures just snagged the rights to the film

*The End of the Tour*
The film details the true story of author David Foster Wallace (Jason Segel) sitting down with Rolling Stone reporter David Lipsky (Jesse Eisenberg) following his coverage of the Rolling Stones tour in support of their album in 1966. This is James Ponsoldt's follow-up to his beloved coming-of-age tale "The Spectacular Now," which stole the show at the 2013 Sundance Festival. Not much is said of the film, as its cast and subject matter basically sell themselves.

*DRAMA*

*Slow West*Featuring Michel Fassbender as an 1800s tour guide to Scottish aristocracy through the outback as it once was, we see a lovesick man after the woman he loves. Troubles emerge when the traveler turns out to be on the run from outlaws as they attempt a journey through the Wild West. This is John Maclean's writing and directing debut with emphasis on authenticity of the outback at the tail-end of a century.

*Z for Zachariah*
A clever romance set in a post-apocalyptic world features hunks Chris Pine and Chiwetel Ejiofor as the last two men on the Earth. The only problem, besides being the last two men alive in a post-apocalyptic world of course, is that both fall for the last woman on Earth, who just happens to be played by the most beautiful woman currently alive, Margot Robbie. Awkward, no? The two go head-on in an interesting take on love in a lifeless world with the hottest girl known to man.

*COMEDY*

*The D Train*Jack Black is doing one for all the bullied chubby kids who grew up getting picked on everyday. Black's character returns to his old stomping grounds to help organize his high school class reunion after being the laughing stock for four years. He cleverly befriends ex-super cool high school guy, played by James Marsden, and by the end of their big reunion, the nerds will come home to roost. Or something like that.

*The Bronze*
Dubbed as the possible "Whiplash" of Sundance 2015, as well as a nod to Napoleon Dynamite, Melissa Rauch stars as a washed-up has-been former Olympic gymnast who now mentors a young super talent. The catch is that her jealous rage over her protege might get the best of her. Reviews have expressed that "The Bronze" is a great idea but may lack in bringing in actual laughs, but still it's one of the festival's most talked-about films, quite possibly because of its epic sex scene.

*DOCUMENTARY*

*Being Evel*The story covering the myth of Evel Knievel is uncorked by short documentary Oscar winner Daniel Junge. The film follows the life and legacy of one of America's greatest stunt icons. Other hyped festival nonfictions include Oscar director Morgan Neville's historic coverage of the 1968 televised debates between Gore Vidal and William F. Buckley Jr. in "Best of Enemies" and the story of comedian turned activist, Barry Crimmins, in the film "Call Me Lucky."

*Racing Extinction*
From the Oscar winning creators of "The Cove" comes another painful look into reality at mass extinction. "The Cove" was a brutal work of art that exposed the ruthless slaughter of mammals in Japan and the people who fought to save them. The new documentary focuses more on endangered species as a whole and just how close we are to eliminating some of the world's greatest wonders.

*Listen to Me Marlon*
A uniquely styled biopic of the life of famed actor Marlon Brando is brought to life by Brando himself and himself alone. Extensively unearthed access to hours of audio tapes of Marlon Brando have been cut and spliced into his definitive documentary with no interruptions from outside sources other than Brando himself. The film is carried from the perspective of Brando about his life and life in general with no added materials or interviews, a perfect tribute to our Godfather.

He was the youngest and bravest, remembers Col Rai's brother

He was the youngest and the bravest among three brothers. This is how CRPF commanding officer YN Rai described his brother Colonel MN Rai who was killed yesterday in a gun battle with Hizbul Mujahideen militants in Jammu and Kashmir.

Rai, himself a gallantry award winner for repulsing a fidayeen attack on the Raghunath temple in Jammu and Kashmir in 2002, said "uniform" for his brother, him and the eldest Lt Colonel DN Rai was a passion that ran in the blood.

"Our father NP Rai was the Principal of the Government High School in Kalimpong sub-division of Darjeeling when we were growing up. He was also the senior-most coordinator for NCC activities in the area and hence, I think, all three of us have a passion for the uniform since then," Rai told PTI.

He is commanding the 48th battalion of the country's largest paramilitary CRPF in Assam's Dhubri. The unit is deployed for undertaking anti-insurgency operations in the area.

Colonel Munindra Nath Rai, 39, Commanding Officer of 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), who had only on Monday won a military medal, was killed yesterday in a fierce encounter with Hizbul terrorists whom he was battling in Tral in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district.

"Lt Col D N Rai is the eldest amongst us and Col Rai who was martyred yesterday was the youngest. As we both always had a respectful fear for our elder brother we both were very close. The elder brother always had much love for both of us but yes I was fond of him (Col Rai) the most," he said.

"He (Col Rai) was the youngest and the bravest. He made the supreme sacrifice by laying down his life in the line of duty," he said.

He added that Col Rai was a go-getter with a daring personality."He was a passionate Gorkha soldier, always ready for the paltan (unit)," he said. Rai said the last rites of Col Rai would be held at the Brar square crematorium in New Delhi on Jnuary 29 their parents have already reached Delhi.

The family hails from Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh and Col Rai belonged to the 9 Gorkha Rifles but was on deputation to the Rashtriya Rifles (RR) unit which is tasked for anti-militancy operations in the Kashmir valley.

In the encounter that took place at Mindora village of Tral, 36 km from Srinagar, besides Col Rai a Jammu and Kashmir policeman was also killed. Col Rai is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.

How Porn Scenarios Would Play Out In Real Life

$
0
0
If you haven't realized it by now, adult films aren't the most accurate portrayal of real life. In reality, a lot more people wear underwear and aren't fully prepared to have an hour of sex with a random stranger in the back of a costume shop. Let's take a look at some of the most common porn scenarios and how they'd actually play out in real life.*The Pizza Delivery Guy**Porn:* An unsuspecting pizza guy will walk in on at least one ridiculously hot lady who's dressed like she's going to a VIP club instead of the sweatpants and baggy t-shirt that usually accompany a late night pizza order. She'll pull him in and insist he has unprotected sex with her.

*Real Life:* Whoever ordered that pizza is going to want to eat it before it gets cold. By the time you finally figure out what toppings you want and wait for delivery, hunger is your top priority. If you did try to sneak in a lengthy love making session, it would be interrupted every 5 minutes with your manager blowing up your phone wondering why a single delivery less than two miles away has taken over an hour.*The Inappropriate Doctor**Porn:* A doctor starts a routine exam on an attractive patient and then starts exploring areas that definitely didn't need to be treated. Who needs the Hippocratic oath when your patients have bazongos like that?

*Real Life:* On top of nurses, other doctors, maintenance men, sick people, and the receptionist clearly hearing you getting it on with a patient, he's violating just about every law you can possibly break as a doctor. He might as well give her one of his prescription pads on the way out. Also, let's not forget he completely forgot to treat whatever illness it was that originally brought her in, so now she's going to have to go to a walk-in clinic and pay yet another co-pay. His Yelp reviews are going to be terrible.*The Teacher**Porn:* A hot teacher, either male or female, will give a student a bad grade, but inform them that they can get their test scores boosted with a little oral exam, if you know what I mean. The student is happy to oblige and will sometimes invite the other students in detention to join in. Yay teamwork!

*Real Life:* That teacher would offer a better grade for sex and then would be a trending topic on Facebook by the end of the week for being the creepiest teacher since Jack Black snuck into that 5th grade teacher's job in "School of Rock." Also, it's been well over an hour and the bell hasn't rung yet. I'm starting to doubt this is even a licensed educational facility. By the way, no math teacher looks like Lisa Ann, and even if you happened to hit the jackpot of hot teachers, she's not going to have to blackmail students into sex, especially ones that are of legal age and are still taking introductory high school math classes.

*The Stepmom**Porn:* A guy will be hanging out in his room, usually giving himself a ferocious HJ, when his new stepmom will walk in and catch him in the act. He'll apologize profusely, but she isn't upset. As a matter of fact, she's wanted to get it on with her 28-year-old stepson that still lives at home and has monster truck posters on his wall. At first he's hesitant and will loudly declare, "BUT YOU'RE MY STEPMOM," but eventually he gives in and they spend the next 45 minutes engaged in an act that will result in neither of them ever being able to make eye contact at a family dinner again.

*Real Life:* The biggest concern of a new stepmom with an adult stepson still living at home would be insisting that he gets a job, rather than getting naked on his waterbed with Transformers sheets. Also there's no way she would have caught him taking care of his own business because no one in the history of boners has ever turned their web browser to private mode without closing the door, locking it, checking the windows, buying a home security system, and attaching an air horn to the door that'll go off if it gets even slightly ajar.*The Landlord**Porn:* A jobless guy is asleep in the middle of the day when suddenly there's an angry knock at the door. It's his landlord who is, you guessed it, ridiculously attractive and she informs him that he's three months behind on rent. He has an hour to get his stuff out and vacate the apartment. Or, maybe they could work something else out? And by something else, I mean sex. They get it on and his massive debt is forgiven.

*Real Life:* Most landlords look more like the creature that lived under Fred Savage's bed in "Little Monsters" than they do a porn star, but it wouldn't matter because a written notice would be placed on the door long before it got to this point. If he happened to be gone, he would've returned home to find all of his stuff sitting on the street and his credit would be ruined. What sort of successful business could ever be profitable accepting mouth love in place of overdue rent? Not in this economy, am I right?

*The Peeping Tom**Porn:* Some creepy dude will be peering through a girl's window while she's getting dressed or, uh, taking care of her own business. Oh, he also has a camera. The girl will catch him and is only mildly startled for some reason. Then she'll invite him to come in and join, because who doesn't want to express their gratitude to a guy hanging out of a tree with binoculars?

*Real Life: *No one has ever been flattered because a guy confesses that he's been secretly stalking her for weeks. Not only is she going to throw every object at him that isn't bolted to the ground, he's also going to have to inform all of his neighbors of his former hobby when he moves into a new apartment. The only video he'll be starring in is the clip from the local news explaining why he was arrested.

*The Hitchhiker**Porn: *A girl needs a ride, so a van full of guys in tank tops and jeans without underwear offer to take her wherever she wants. For some reason she agrees and is soon talked into letting them all have a furious free for all in her bikini area in exchange for the lift. Oh, there's also one guy holding a camera, but he promises it's not running and he's just holding it up to work his triceps.

*Real Life: *She would call an Uber and the ride would end up costing around $11. The driver would probably offer her a bottle of water and some mints, but if he was the least bit rude she could leave him a bad review and he would lose business. Maybe she'd even get the ride for free if it was her first one and she recommended it to a friend that signed up. Either way, it's a much shorter trip with way less male nudity being dangled in her face.

*The Random Guy on the Street**Porn:* A guy wearing either a gold chain or a puka shell necklace is walking down the street with a camera. He approaches an attractive girl and suggests they either go back to his secret hump shack or around the corner of the closest dumpster and get it on. Of course the girl thinks it's a marvelous idea and comes along with very few questions or concerns.

*Real Life:* If a guy that looks like his DVR is full of "American Ninja Warrior" approached a random woman and suggested she should come back to his studio for some private modeling, the best he could hope for is to just be tased. If you somehow did get her to walk around with you, a $20 offer to pop her top off and let you smell her bare butt would be the end of the conversation and not the beginning of an HD video that caused you to go over on data for the month.

*The Busted Cheater**Porn:* A man or woman in a committed relationship will walk in on their partner bumping and grinding in their bed or on the couch. After clearing their throat or asking what's going on, the two cheaters will sort of stop and act shocked, but with very little explanation or convincing, the one that busted their cheating partner and best friend will decide the best course of action is to join in. It's not like that's going to be awkward 5 seconds after you've all finished.

*Real Life:* If someone gets caught in the act of cheating, usually the one that walks in on it doesn't need an explanation. Things are pretty clear and the one that got caught had better hope they can grab any valuable or sentimental items on their sprint to the door, because everything left behind is going to look like the west coast halfway through "Independence Day." The only thing they'll all be joining in on is a court date to find out how much alimony that midday crotch rodeo is going to cost.

*The Babysitter**Porn:* A babysitter that's dressed to look like a child, but makes sure to verbally state that she's over 18, breaks one of the house rules and is caught by the dad, who's carrying around a camera for some reason. He'll tell her that she can either get it on with him or he'll tell her parents she broke a lamp. This is where she'll reveal that she's had a crush on him all along and the two of them will get naked and loud, yet somehow never wake up the sleeping kid.

*Real Life:* First of all, that kid definitely would have woken up when his dad and babysitter were both grunting and moaning on the sofa. It never would have even gotten to that point because as soon as the dad informed her that she has to either tell her parents she broke a lamp or touch his old balls, she would have gladly chosen the lamp and paid the $11 or gone to IKEA and personally replaced it. Plus Care.com would have been notified and the only babysitter he would ever be able to get would be from the depths of Craigslist in exchange for a muffler from a '96 Corolla.

*Guys With Ponytails**Porn: *They end up getting it on with the hottest women you've ever seen in your life.

*Real Life:* No man with a ponytail has ever had sex. It's a scientific fact. Sorry ponytail guys, but you brought this on yourself.

*Mumbai*: Three Mumbai boys aged between 12-14 have been selected to travel to England for a football coaching clinic that will be conducted by Premier League club Queens Park Rangers (QPR) in London in April.

This is the sixth consecutive year that QPR is taking kids from here to train under their coaches at their facility in London. This time the London Club has decided to take 13-year-old Sitaram Rathod (Holy Name High School, Colaba) and two kids aged 12 and 14 but with the same name -- Sunil Rathod -- and school -- Colaba Municipal Secondary School.

The three were picked from a total of 45 shortlisted candidates who participated in a three-day selection trial conducted by QPR officials.

QPR Head of Player Development and Academy Manager Chris Ramsey assisted QPR coach Alexander Carroll to watch, monitor and share their expertise with the 45 shortlisted candidates, teaching them basic football skills during the trials.

“It’s always difficult to pick up the right players because only a few from the entire group can be chosen. The difference between the rest and these three players selected was not only their technical ability to be chosen but also their character and endurance that was endearing," Ramsey said.

"They asked a lot of questions and after getting the answers they would try to execute what was told to them. Their characters helped them a lot.” Reported by Mid-Day 20 hours ago.

Popular YouTube channel called Barackdubs decided to mix things up and gave Bruno Mars' hit single 'Uptown Funk,' a different version, with Barack Obama as a singer. Well, sort of!

The video, which has already climbed the charts, features snippets of the US President giving various speeches cut and mixed together to make it sound like he's singing the song, E! Online reported.

The impressive video comes after a Dallas high school teacher gave his students the ultimate assignment to create a music video inspired by the hit single, and the clip has already received more than 5 million page views.

Mars shared the video on Facebook and wrote that "I cried at the end. I'm still a thug though. Thank you to everyone involved in making this video."

Warden shaves students' head

*Two brothers of a reputable school had their heads forcibly shaved in a punishment meted out by a hostel warden.*

The elder brother's head was shaved as "punishment for not attending classes", while the younger boy was meted out the same punishment as his elder sibling had gone home without taking permission.

The incident happened on January 28. Kiran, the warden at the hostel of St Joseph's Indian High School, shaved he head of Francis Sebastian, a class X student, last Wednesday as punishment for skipping classes.

Francis felt so humiliated that he returned home and complained to his father Sebastian Augustine, who works as a construction labourer in Begur. The next day, Augustine got a call from his younger son, Charles Sebastian, a Class IX student at the same school. The boy told his father that the warden had shaved his head, too, because his elder brother had gone home without taking permission from the school authorities.

Augustine then lodged a complaint with the police. But the police are yet to register a First Information Report (FIR). A senior police officer said the matter was being investigated and that necessary action would be taken. But a source said that the police were consulting legal experts to ascertain under what section of the IPC the warden can be booked.

When Augustine demanded an explanation from the school authorities, they told him that Francis's head was shaved because it was "infested with lice". But Augustine told the police said that Francis had recently got a haircut at home.

"If they had a problem with Francis's head being infested with lice, they should have informed us. We would have taken him to a doctor for treatment. But the warden goes around tonsuring our children and embarrassing them before other students. We also learnt that he had punished several students in a similar manner, but no one complained, fearing the consequences," police quoted Augustine as having stated in the complaint.

"We have no problem with the education provided by the school and are actually grateful to the institution for admitting children from poor families. We have approached the police because Francis is scared and hesitant to attend school," the complaint said. Reported by Deccan Herald 11 hours ago.
