*After being at the receiving end in several cases, including the photogate case involving ADGP P Ravindranath, the drunken brawl at a bar involving MLA Vijayanand Kashappanavar and the recent rapes, Bangalore City Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar has got the boot.

His appointment in April 2013 had come as a diktat by the Election Commission of India which had directed the State government to appoint him to ensure "free and fair" Assembly elections. When asked if he expected the transfer, especially after a series of shocking rapes, Auradkar admitted that it was "unexpected".

He asserted that the rape incident at the Vibgyor High school was a "blind case".

"I had not expected this, but at the same time as a government servant I am always ready to work anywhere. The rape at the school was a shocking incident, but at the same time it was a blind case. The incident occurred on July 2, the case was registered on 14 and the suspect arrested on July 20," he said.

When asked if ADGP Ravindranath's episode was the bitterest experience in his professional career, Auradkar played it safe, saying there were many.

Ravindranath, who was ADGP, Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP), had alleged that Auradkar hatched a conspiracy against him.

Ravindranath was accused of taking the photos of a woman in a coffee shop in the City. He later filed a case of atrocity against Auradkar.

But the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) gave the latter a clean chit.

Auradkar, who has been posted as ADGP (KSRP), said that it was all part of a professional career.

"There are a lot of bittersweet experiences. We aspire for many things but not all are fulfilled. My appointment as the head of KSRP is just a co-incidence," he said.

When asked whether he had left any task unfinished, Auradkar mentioned the failure to track down the man who brutally attacked a bank manager in a Corporation Bank ATM."I had submitted a proposal to the State government to gift something to policemen, from constables to sub-inspectors, in view of golden jubilee celebrations of Bangalore commissionerate. I hope the proposal will come through," he said. Reported by Deccan Herald 12 hours ago.
