*There are quite a few candidates in Mysore district, who missed featuring in top three ranks of the district by a very narrow margin. While two are satisfied about their performance, there is one who thinks she could have scored more and featured among the top three.*
Gaurav U D, a student of Vijaya Vittala Vidyashrama in the city, secured 619 marks of the possible 625. Speaking toDeccan Herald, he said that he had to battle through chicken pox which affected him during the examination.
"I was shocked when I realised that I had done so well," he said.
He is the son of Dattatri U J, a businessman and Aparna U D, a housewife, and has scored 125 in Kannada, 99 in English, Hindi, Maths and Social Science, and 98 in Science.
He aspires to be a scientist and said that he would be attending a test under Kishore Vaijnanik Prothsahan Yojana, which would make it easier for him to land in Indian Institute of Science. "My interest is astronomy," he said.
He added that he was a State level chess player and recently took part in a State level competition in Davanagere. Besides, he has cleared junior grade examination of Carnatic music in keyboard.
Sumitha S Rao, a student of Sadvidya High School in Mysore has scored 618. Daughter of Suresh Rao B and Suchetha B S, both employed in different banks in the city, the softspoken girl aspires to be a doctor.
"I had expected to get above 600 marks and was happy to know I got 618. Besides, I did not study that hard. Usually it would be for about an hour or two," she said.

Monisha Gowda, who has scored 617, says that she wants her Science paper to be re-evaluated, in which she has scored 96. A student of Sadvidya High School in the city, she said that she had expected "a bit more". She has scored full marks in Sanskrit and Social Science. In English and Maths, she has 99 marks, while she scored 98 in Kannada.
Speaking about how she studied, she said that she "hates tuitions" and preferred to study by herself. After completing her PUC, she wants to join IIT and take up either space physics or astrophysics. Her motto she says is not to "study hard, but study smart". Reported by Deccan Herald 3 hours ago.
