* The charge sheet submitted by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the corruption and extortion within Lokayukta reveals that suspended Joint Commissioner (PRO) Syed Riyaz had tried to interfere in cases probed by the Lokayukta police.

The statements filed along with the charge sheet in the first case (56/2015) say that Riyaz would also keep a copy of the complaints filed with the Lokayukta.
The statement of Pramod, a City Armed Reserve (CAR) constable who was working at the PRO office since some time, reveals that Riyaz used to collect complaints addressed to the Lokayukta. Pramod said three Additional Registrars (Enquiries) (AREs)were close to Riyaz and often visited PROs chamber. In one particular complaint against an education institution - Sherwood High - in which Riyazs brother Iliyas is a trust member, Riyaz tweaked a page in the original complaint.
"AREs Vidyadhar, Anand Deshpande and Shankar Bhat were close with Riyaz and would come to Riyazs chamber. Riyaz would receive copies of the complaint filed to the Lokayukta through these AREs and sometimes directly from the complaint section. Riyaz would ask me to scan the complaint copies and store it in my mail inbox - ap.chetan@yahoo.com. One person by name A K Majeed had sent a complaint by post against Sherwood High school. Riyaz asked me to remove a page pertaining to his brother Iliyas and forwarded it to the Lokayukta," Pramod has stated. The educational institution is run by Emmar Charitable Trust.
It is also revealed in the statement that after the corruption within Lokayukta office was unearthed, Lokayukta Justice Y Bhaskar Rao used to speak to his son using Pramods phone.
"In June 2015, Riyaz gave a phone number 09618773553 of Ashwin and asked me to update Ashwin about news reports about corruption in Lokayukta. Later, Ashwin would ask me to hand over the phone to his father in his chamber. Many a times, Justice Bhaskar Rao had asked me to call his son and they used to discuss over phone," Pramod has said.
In one of the statements recorded by the SIT, Lokayukta SP (Bengaluru Rural) Dr Ashwini said that Riyaz had called her once in October 2014 asking her to bring a file since Ashwin wanted to peruse it .
"In October 2014, Riyaz called me through intercom asking me to bring the file pertaining to case number 23/2012 along with the investigating officer. He said Ashwin wanted to go through the file. I refused to do so and also asked the IO not to take any files to any other officer.
This apart, several officials in their statements have said that Revenue Minister V Srinivas Prasad's Personal Secretary Nagaraj, a KAS officer, was spotted both at Lokayuktas official residence and at a star hotel in UB City. The statements by DC (Bengaluru Urban) V Shankar and Tahsildar Dr B Dayanand reveal that Nagaraj was at the official residence of the Lokayukta on Crescent Road, when the two officials were summoned there.
