Mysuru high school students win Prajavani quiz contest

*The final round of the Prajavani Quiz Championship 2014-15 conducted on Friday in the City was an exhilarating test of knowledge between six teams from high schools across the State.

Although CVaishnavi and SSushmita from Marimallappa High School, Mysuru, emerged the champions, other participants deserve equal praise for the tough competition they gave the winners. It came down to tie-breakers to decide the winners of the competition.

Prajna N Hebber and Rakshit Kumar of Sharadha Vidylaya, Mangaluru, bagged the second place, while Bharat H Nand Kishen Bhat from Adichunchanagiri School, Shivamogga, bagged the third place.

A total of six teams, of the 12 that took part in the semi-finals, reached the final round of the quiz held at Kuvempu Kalakshetra in the City, hosted by actor-director Ramesh Aravind. The first three teams won laptops, cameras and tabs, respectively. The other three teams received consolation prizes.

Enthusiastic students were seen preparing for the competition since 8 am at the venue, with parents giving tips to their children.

About 5,050 students from 705 schools across the State participated in the preliminary rounds. With over a thousand participating teams, the quiz took place in six rounds. The two semi-finals saw teams from NPS, Rajajinagar, Jananakshi Vidyaniketan School, Rajarajeshwari Nagar, and the like.

Mohammed Mohsin, Commissioner, Department of Public Instruction, and actor Ramesh Arvind distributed the prizes. Prajavani Editor KNShanth Kumar, Prajavani Executive Editor Padmaraj Dandavati and Dr G Sridhar, Managing Director, Deeksha Network, were present.
