*The Varthur police have submitted the charge sheet against three accused, including the founder chairman of Vibgyor High school, in connection with the rape of a six-year-old girl on its premises on July 3. The charge sheet was submitted to the city sessions court on Tuesday.*

The charge sheet was filed against the accused Lal Giri and Wasim Pasha, gymnastic instructors at the school, and Rustom Kerawalla, founder chairman. The 750-page charge sheet contains statements recorded by the victim, her parents, the staff and management of the school, the helper of the child and many more people. The statements of a total of 70 people were recorded and the required medical certificates were filed with the charge sheet, said a senior police officer.

Giri and Pasha were booked under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Court (IPC) and Sections 4 and 5 of the Pocso Act, while Kerawalla was booked under Section 202 of the IPC and Section 21 of the Pocso Act.

A senior police officer said, "Giri and Pasha confessed to raping the minor. We got to know that Kerawalla tried to hush up the matter and asked the management and the staff to keep mum about the incident. The police than arrested Kerawalla for trying to hush up the matter. During interrogation, they confessed to their crimes."

The incident triggered mass protests from the public and parents who demanded justice. This also led the police to formulate several strict guidelines for schools.

The victim was a student of class I. On July 3, at around 11 am, she went to the gymnastics room, along with her classmates. After finishing the session, other students went back to their class while the victim was asked to stay back in the room. The duo raped the minor and then sent her to the classroom.

After a couple of days, the victim had intense stomach ache. Doctors who treated the girl declared that she had been raped. On July 14, the parents lodged a complaint at the Varthur police station. Reported by Deccan Herald 7 hours ago.
